Insert an Image Into a Forums Post

  1. In Home, select Resources from the left Tool List of your site.
  2. Select on the Actions drop-down menu, and select Upload File.
  3. Drag-and-drop the file onto the designated area of the browser window or click the gray area to browse for a file.
  4. Select Continue.
  5. Select on the Actions drop-down menu next to the file and select Edit Details
  6. Select the checkbox next to This file is publicly viewable under Additional Access.
  7. Copy the item's URL from the Web Address (URL) field.
  8. Navigate to the Forums tool and begin your reply.
  9. In the text editor, select the Image Icon.  
  10. Paste the copied Web Address (URL) or select Browse Server in the Image Properties window that appears.  
  11. (Optional) Add Alternative Text for the image.
  12. (Optional) Use the Width and Height text boxes to adjust the size of the image.  
  13. Select OK.

Add a Movie Into a Forum Post

  1. In Home, select Resources from the left Tool List of your site.
  2. Select the Actions drop-down menu, and select Upload File.
  3. Drag-and-drop the file onto the designated area of the browser window or click the gray area to browse for a file.
  4. Select Continue.
  5. Select on the Actions drop-down menu next to the file and select Edit Details
  6. Select the checkbox next to This file is publicly viewable under Additional Access.
  7. Copy the item's URL from the Web Address (URL) field.
  8. Navigate to the Forums tool and begin your reply.
  9. In the text editor, select the Insert/Edit Movie Icon. It looks like a movie clapperboard.
  10. There are two options for adding a movie: insert the URL or use an existing file from Resources.
    • Insert URL: Paste the copied Web Address (URL) for the movie into the URL field.  
    • Browse Server:
      1. Select Browse Server and select the site the file is located then select the file. 
  11. (Optional) Use the Width and Height text boxes to adjust the size of the video.  
  12. (Optional) Check Auto Play if you wish for the video to immediately play once the participant views the page.  
  13. Select OK.

Add an Audio Recording Into a Forum Post

  1. In the text editor, select the Record Audio Clip Icon. It looks like a microphone.  
  2. Your browser will prompt you to share your microphone with tracs.txstate.edu. Select your microphone from the drop-down menu and select Share Selected Device.
    You have a 180 seconds to record your response. If the record button isn't enabled, check the top bar of your browser or the area below to Allow use of your microphone. Using headphones while recording is recommended.
  3. Select Start recording to begin recording your audio.  
  4. Select Stop recording to stop recording your audio.  
  5. Select Preview recording to play back and preview your audio file.  
  6. Select Post recording to upload and post your audio file. The Record Audio Clip box will close automatically and the recording will appear within the text editor when it has finished uploading.
