Grade a Participant's Message

Before following these directions, you must first create a Grade Item. Only those with the appropriate permissions may grade participant messages. Please view our  Gradebook documentation if you need help adding a Grade Item.

Best Practice:

For a consistent grading experience please link the forum topic or entire forum to an individual grade item before grading to ensure all grades go to the same grade item. Please refer to how to associate an existing a grade item to a new Forum or Topic.

If you do not wish to associate a grade item to a Forum or Topic please feel free follow one of the two following options. Please note that grading errors may potentially occur such as selecting the wrong grade item.

Option 1:

  1. In the left Tool List of your site, select Forums.
  2. Next to the Topic Title, select More.
  3. Select Grade from the drop down menu.
  4. Select a Gradebook Item from the drop down menu on the top right.
  5. Select Grade to the right of the students name.
  6. Enter in the Grade (Points Only) and Comments if you wish.
  7. Select Submit Grade.

Option 2:

  1. Select on the Topic you wish to grade.
  2. Select on the Conversation you wish to grade, and select Grade under the conversation's title. You may also select an individual message.
  3. Select Grade.
  4. Select a Gradebook Item from the drop down menu on the top right.
  5. Enter in the Grade (Points Only) and Comments if you wish.
  6. Select Submit Grade.
