Lessons: Add and Edit Text

Add Text

The Add Text option allows text to be created into the rich text HTML editor for original content authoring.

If you choose to paste information from Word, please be sure to use the Paste from Word tool to avoid formatting problems.

  1. Select Add Content, then select Add Text.
  2. Compose content with editor or paste content in from other sources, such as Word, HTML, or text.
  3. (Optional) Select Edit the groups for which this item should be shown to allow only selected groups access to text.
  4. Select Save to finish.

Edit Text

  1. Select the paper and pencil icon to the right of the text.
  2. Select Save to save changes or Cancel to exit without saving.

Add Dynamic Text

The Dynamic Text feature allows instructors to insert personalized text into lessons to display the current student's name.

This can be leveraged to enhance your ability to connect with students especially in online courses that at times may seem impersonal.

This feature allows users to insert student {{firstname}}, {{lastname}}, and/or {{fullname}}

Example:

  • If your student's name is John Smith, entering {{firstname}} will only display the name John.
  • If your student's name is John Smith, entering {{lastname}} will only display the name Smith.
  • If your student's name is John Smith, entering {{fullname}} will display the name John Smith.
