When an instructor creates a course he/she is communicating directlty with the students who have registered for the class. A course site allows the instructor to communicate and collaborate with students, as well as assess the course and present course materials. Here are a few tips and frequently asked questions about course sites:
- You can begin working on your course sites in advance, however you may wish to unpublish them. When a site is unpublished only people with the instructor role will be able to see the site.
- Only the official instructor of record with the registrar can create a course. If your course is not listed when you try to create it, please contact your department.
- If you have a TA that needs to be added to the site, you will have to do that manually via the add participants tool in Site Info.
- Only students who have registered for the course will be able to view the site.
- When a student adds your course they will automatically be added to the site.
- When a student drops the course they will automatically be made inactive in the site so the student will no longer see the site.
- Course sites will be removed from student view after the semester is over. Instructors will always be able to see the old course site until they choose to hide it from their view.
