Mailing List Archive

The Mailing List Archive tool allows the site creator to create an email address that will be used to mass email all site participants. The tool allows you to use your Texas State University email address (either through Bobcatmail or Outlook/Entourage) to send the email to the site. Emails sent through the Mailing List Archive tool will have copies retained on the site. 

The only roles allowed to send email using the Mailing List Archive tool are Instructor, TA, and Maintainer. All other roles will have to be granted permission to use it.

Email attachments cannot be over 30MB for the total file size. If the total file size is over 30MB it is possible the email will not be sent by the BobcatMail system. 


Create A Mailing List Archive

  1. In the left Tool List of your site, select Site Info.

  2. Select Manage Tools.

  3. Select Administration to expand the section and then select the checkbox next to Mailing List Archive.

  4. Select Continue.

  5. In the field next to Site email address, enter an email address for the site.

    For example, for your English 2310.251 course in Fall 2018, the email address for your course might look like this: eng2310sec251f18@tracs.txstate.edu

  6. Select Continue.

  7. A confirmation message will appear. Select Finish.


Send Mail to Site Participants

To send mail to site participants:

  1. Open your email application associated with your Texas State email account (Outlook, Entourage, etc.), and in the To field enter in the email address you created.
  2. Compose your message and send.
